Notes: The Astronomy Letters of Tycho Brahe, the famous Danish astronomer (born 1546-died 1601) on pages 40-41 describe his clocks as follows: I have four clocks of different sizes accuratly made, which show not only the minutes, but also the seconds; nevertheless I have been disapointed in putting faith in the for such accurate work; for an error of 4 seconds, which can easily occur in several hours , means an error of a minute of longitude. These clocks, though carefully made of brass wheels, are sensibly affected by the air. There is also the inequality by the weight being at the top or bottom, by the cord by which it is attached is of different length, and so adds something to the weight.Though this is a small difference, yet it brings in an error wich is not negligable in seconds.
