Notes: Un orologio ad acqua nella Pechino del XVIII secolo La Voce di Hora, Dec 2010 The article describes the history of the now lost imperial water clock in Beijing, in the Garden of the Summer Palace, designed by a Milanese Jesuit priest, Giuseppe Castiglioni, who worked in China during the 18th century and was an appreciated painter, too. Castiglioni was responsible for the artistic side of the project: the technical design was carried on by P?re Michel Benoist, a Jesuit from France, but relocated to Beijing.
