Notes: The author tells us how from a classic 'flag' height clock he came to design an original sundial of declining height (the dial here is not always exposed to the sun in the front) and how from this, with subsequent ingenious reworking, both arrived at the design of a series of variants, including also a clock that faithfully follows a design of ca. the year1600.
